Ordering & Customization

Can I design my own wallpaper?

Yes. You can start from any design in our collection and ask us to adjust it, or send us your own artwork. Our studio team handles small modifications like cropping, repositioning or changing elements. Tell us what you have in mind and we'll confirm what's possible before you order.

Can I turn my own photo into wallpaper?

Yes. Upload your image on our custom photo wallpaper page, enter your wall size and pick a material. For a sharp print on a large wall, use the highest-resolution version of the photo you have, ideally the original file from your camera or phone.

Can I change the colors of a design?

Yes. Most designs in our collection can be recolored to match your paint, furniture or brand colors. Contact us with the design name and the colors you want, and our team will let you know what can be changed.

Can I order wallpaper to my exact wall size?

Yes. Every Giffywalls wallpaper and mural is printed to the width and height you enter on the product page. You don't buy standard rolls and cut them down: the design is scaled to your wall and delivered as numbered panels.

How do I measure my wall for wallpaper?

Measure the widest width and the tallest height of the wall surface you want to cover. Don't include baseboards or crown molding, and don't subtract doors or windows, because they're cut away during installation. Our measuring guide has diagrams for every wall type.

How do I measure a sloped wall or a wall with a door or window?

For a sloped or slanted wall, measure the longest width and the tallest height and ignore the slope. We print a full rectangle and you trim the slope during installation. For doors and windows, measure the whole wall. You can send us a photo or rough plan so we can show the opening on your proof image.

Should I order extra wallpaper?

Yes. We recommend adding about 2 inches (5 cm) to both your width and height. Walls are rarely perfectly square, and the extra gives you room to trim neatly at the ceiling, floor and corners.

Will panels from two separate orders match in color?

We can't guarantee an exact color match between separate orders, because each order is printed individually. If you're covering several walls with the same design, place them in one order. For wraparound murals, add the wall widths together and order them as a single piece.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard and PayPal, with no surcharge for paying by card. One discount code can be used per order. See Ordering & Payment for full details.

Do you offer trade or designer pricing?

Yes. Interior designers, architects, contractors and businesses can join our trade program for trade discounts, free samples and free express shipping. Apply on our Trade page and we'll reply within five business days.

Materials & Samples

What wallpaper materials do you offer?

We offer 8 materials in two hanging types:

  • Standard: 230 GSM non-woven, smooth matte. Our everyday option.
  • Premium Matte: 280 GSM non-woven with an ultra-matte feather finish.
  • Canvas: 300 GSM fabric-based canvas texture for gallery-style walls.
  • Brush Stroke: 240 GSM polyester fabric with a painterly stroke texture. Fire rated.
  • Gold Line: 280 GSM golden thread material with a warm natural weave.
  • Metallic Pearl: 280 GSM non-woven with a subtle pearl shimmer.
  • Peel & Stick: 280 GSM self-adhesive with a caviar texture. Removable and fire rated.
  • Peel & Stick Fabric: fabric-backed self-adhesive with a woven texture. Removable.

The first six are paste-the-paper materials; the last two are self-adhesive. Compare them on our Paper Types page.

Which wallpaper material is best for bathrooms and kitchens?

Peel & Stick is our best choice for bathrooms and kitchens. It handles humidity well and wipes clean with a damp cloth. Keep it away from direct water spray, such as inside a shower enclosure. Browse our bathroom wallpaper designs.

Which wallpaper is best for renters?

Peel & Stick and Peel & Stick Fabric. Both are self-adhesive, need no glue, and peel off cleanly when you move out. Shop our peel and stick wallpaper collection.

What's the difference between peel and stick and paste-the-paper wallpaper?

Peel and stick wallpaper has an adhesive backing: you peel off the liner and press it onto the wall. Paste-the-paper wallpaper (Standard, Premium Matte, Canvas, Brush Stroke, Gold Line, Metallic Pearl) is hung with wallpaper glue. We include the glue free with every paste-the-paper order.

Can I put wallpaper on a ceiling?

Yes. Standard, Premium Matte and Canvas can all be applied to ceilings. Ceiling installation is harder than a wall, so we recommend two people or a professional installer.

Is your wallpaper fire rated?

Brush Stroke and Peel & Stick are fire rated. For commercial projects that need specific fire certification, contact us before ordering so we can confirm the right material.

Is your wallpaper safe for kids' rooms?

Yes. All our materials are printed with non-toxic inks, and most are 100% PVC-free. That makes them a good fit for nurseries and kids' room wallpaper. Read more on our Sustainability page.

Is textured wallpaper harder to clean than smooth wallpaper?

A little. Textured finishes like Canvas, Brush Stroke and Gold Line can hold more dust in the grooves. A soft dry brush or a gentle wipe with a barely damp cloth keeps them clean.

Can I order a wallpaper sample?

Yes. Click "Buy Sample" on any product page and choose the material you want to test. A sample lets you check color, texture and finish in your own lighting, and test how peel and stick grips your wall, before placing a full order.

Wall Preparation

Should I prime or seal my walls before wallpapering?

Yes, especially on new plaster, fresh drywall or freshly painted walls. A primer or sealer helps the wallpaper grip evenly and makes it easier to remove later without damaging the wall.

How do I clean my wall before hanging wallpaper?

Wash the wall with a mild soap solution, rinse, and let it dry completely. The surface must be clean, dry and dust-free before you start, or the wallpaper may not stick properly.

Can I hang wallpaper over existing wallpaper?

We don't recommend it. Remove the old wallpaper first for a smooth finish and strong adhesion. Old paper can lift, bubble or show seams through the new design.

Should I fill cracks or holes before wallpapering?

Yes. Fill cracks and holes, let the filler dry, then sand the surface smooth. Wallpaper follows the shape of the wall, so any bumps or dents will show through.

Can I wallpaper over a painted wall?

Yes, as long as the paint is in good condition and not peeling. Lightly sand glossy or satin paint so the wallpaper grips better.

How long should I wait after painting before hanging wallpaper?

Wait at least 3 to 4 weeks for fresh paint to fully cure. Hanging wallpaper on uncured paint can weaken adhesion and may pull paint off if you remove the wallpaper later.

Installation

What comes with my wallpaper order?

Every order includes numbered panels, a free squeegee and free glue for paste-the-paper materials. Step-by-step instructions for each material are in our installation guide.

Do I need special tools to install wallpaper?

Very few. Along with the squeegee and glue we include, you'll need a sharp utility knife, a level or plumb line, a tape measure, a pencil, and a step ladder. A paint roller makes spreading glue faster.

Can I install wallpaper myself?

Yes. Most customers hang their own wallpaper. Peel & Stick is the easiest, with no glue or mess. Large murals, ceilings and stairwells are easier with two people, and you can always hire a professional installer.

How do I line up the panels?

Hang the panels in numbered order, starting with panel 1. Use a level to draw a straight vertical line for the first panel, then match the design on each new panel to the one before it. Our installation guide shows the exact joining method for your material.

How do I cut wallpaper around windows, doors and outlets?

Hang the panel over the opening, smooth it into place, then trim the excess with a sharp utility knife along the frame. For outlets and switches, turn off the power, remove the cover plate, make a small cross cut over the box, then trim and replace the plate.

How do I remove air bubbles?

Push bubbles out toward the nearest edge with the squeegee, working from the center outward. For a stubborn bubble, prick it with a pin and smooth the air out.

Can I install wallpaper on a textured wall?

On lightly textured walls, yes: our Standard, Premium Matte, Canvas, Brush Stroke, Gold Line and Peel & Stick materials all work on slight texture. Heavily textured walls, like popcorn or deep orange-peel finishes, should be skimmed smooth first.

How long does wallpaper glue take to dry?

About 24 hours, depending on room temperature and humidity. Keep the room well ventilated and avoid direct heat while it dries.

Removal

How do I remove wallpaper?

Peel & Stick and Peel & Stick Fabric peel off by hand. Lift a corner and pull slowly at a low angle. For paste-the-paper materials, peel what comes away easily, then use a steamer or warm water with wallpaper remover to soften any remaining glue.

Can I remove wallpaper without damaging the wall?

Yes. Peel and stick wallpaper comes off cleanly without marking a properly prepared wall. For paste-the-paper materials, peel slowly and use steam or remover on stubborn spots. A primed wall makes removal much easier.

How do I know if my wallpaper is strippable?

Lift a corner and pull gently. If the panel peels away in one piece, it's strippable. If it tears or won't budge, soften it with a steamer or a wallpaper remover solution first.

Durability & Care

How do I clean my wallpaper?

Wipe it gently with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap, then pat dry. Don't use abrasive cleaners, scrubbing brushes or harsh chemicals. All our materials have a scratch-resistant surface, but gentle cleaning keeps prints looking new.

Will wallpaper fade over time?

Our prints are made to resist fading in normal indoor light. Like any printed surface, wallpaper in strong, direct sunlight all day can fade gradually, so use blinds or curtains on very sunny walls.

How can I protect my wallpaper from damage?

Keep it away from direct water spray, constant direct sunlight and sharp objects. Clean spills quickly and follow the care advice for your material.

How long does wallpaper last?

Quality wallpaper that is hung on a well-prepared wall and cleaned gently can last many years. How long it lasts depends on the material, sunlight, humidity and how much the wall gets touched.

Delivery & Shipping

Inspect every panel before you install. If anything is damaged or faulty, contact us within 30 days with your order number and clear photos. For uninstalled products, we'll arrange a return or replacement at no cost to you.

How long do refunds take?
